Surface hardening systems for fresh and existing concrete

Flooring & Industrial Systems

Concrete Surface Hardening Systems

Shows the dry-shake surface hardener for fresh concrete and the lithium silicate densifier for existing concrete as two separate fixed systems.

System summary

  1. Determining whether the concrete is fresh or existing
  2. surface preparation
  3. KR-6020 or KR-ACA-105
  4. curing and site check.

The right surface strengthening method for the age of the concrete

Fresh concrete and existing concrete already in service are not strengthened by the same method. KR-6020 is positioned as a dry-shake system on fresh concrete surfaces; KR-ACA-105 as a clear lithium silicate densifier on suitable existing concrete surfaces.

System advantages

  • Clear product distinction for fresh and existing concrete
  • Dry-shake surface hardener option
  • Clear lithium silicate option for existing concrete

Application

How does the system work?

Steps are listed in application order. For consumption, layer thickness and waiting times, refer to the products' current technical data sheets (TDS).

  1. Step 1: Determine the condition of the concrete

Clarify whether the application will be on newly poured fresh concrete or on existing concrete already in service.

  2. Step 2: Prepare the surface for the system

On fresh concrete, check the application timing; on existing concrete, check cleanliness, porosity and surface soundness.

  3. Step 3: Apply the right product

Use KR-6020 in the fresh concrete system and KR-ACA-105 in the existing concrete system.

  4. Step 4: Complete curing and the site check

For post-application protection, curing and opening-to-use conditions, refer to the current technical data sheet of the relevant product.

System options

This page has 2 fixed system options

Each option is a complete whole with its own products; products from different options are not combined in a single system.

Only KR-6020 is shown in the fresh concrete system; only KR-ACA-105 in the existing concrete system. The two products are not used as alternatives to each other in the same application step.

System 1

Fresh Concrete Surface Hardening

The system completed with the KR-6020 dry-shake surface hardener at the appropriate setting stage of newly poured concrete.

When to use it?

Used when a surface hardener application is planned within the project scope on a newly poured industrial concrete floor.

Fixed system order

  1. Fresh concrete
  2. correct application timing
  3. KR-6020 dry shake
  4. trowelling
  5. curing

SYSTEM PRODUCT

KR-6020

TECHNO KRAFT SURFACE HARDENER

Used in this system as the dry-shake surface hardener with quartz/silica aggregate.

View Product

The product is not presented as a liquid hardener to be applied later to existing, fully cured concrete.

System 2

Existing Concrete Lithium Silicate System

The fixed system in which a suitable existing concrete surface is strengthened with the KR-ACA-105 clear lithium silicate product.

When to use it?

Considered when a clear liquid densifier is required on a suitable concrete surface already in service.

Fixed system order

  1. Existing concrete check and cleaning
  2. KR-ACA-105
  3. reaction/drying
  4. controlled use

KR-ACA-105

TECHNO KRAFT LITIUM SILICATE CONCRETE HARDENER

Used in this system as the clear lithium silicate concrete densifier.

View Product

The product is not to be confused with the fresh concrete dry-shake system; the suitability of the existing concrete is verified by a site test.
