What separates class S2 from class S1
S1 and S2 denote the deformability of the adhesive; S2 defines a higher level. This does not mean that S2 must be used in every application. The class is chosen by assessing the covering size, the substrate, indoor or outdoor conditions and the expected movement together.
Why it matters in XXL and slab applications
On slab coverings with a large surface area, even small substrate movements spread across a wide area. A very flat and load-bearing substrate, professional handling equipment, uniform combing, double-sided application and full contact are of critical importance. A class S2 adhesive is one of the components in this system that helps accommodate movement.
How the KraftBau S2 system is built
KR-8100 KRAFT PROMAX C2TES2 is used in the grey system and KR-8600 KRAFT PROMAX C2TES2 WHITE in the white system. Both products form a system with the shared KR-8100-1 KRAFT PROMAX Component B.
After the covering is placed, level control is carried out with suitable KR-ST clips and wedges. The grout product is determined by the conditions of use: KR-200 in dry areas, KR-250 in wet or outdoor areas, and KR-300 under technical and high chemical loads.
Checks before application
Slab size, weight, the load-bearing capacity of the substrate, and the joint and movement joint plan should be assessed before application. The current technical data sheets should be the basis for mixing ratios, layer thickness and times. Where necessary, system approval should be obtained from KraftBau Technical Support.
Product recommendations in this content are based on the KraftBau system file. For consumption, mixing ratio, layer thickness and waiting times, refer to the product's current technical data sheet (TDS); for your project conditions, get technical support.
